Legal Advice Clinic (LAC)
The Legal Advice Clinic (LAC) is a free clinic designed to help inviduals without an attorney get answers to legal questions about filing a civil case in federal court and assistance with completing the filing forms. The LAC proivides self-represented litigants the opportunity to meet with a volunteer private attorney for a free 30-minute consultation. The LAC is provided by the St. Louis Bar Foundation with support from the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL).
Free 30-minute sessions can be scheduled online at www.bamsl.org/federalcourt or by phone at 1-855-978-7070. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are recommended.
You are not required to bring any documentation to our appointment. However, your 30-minute appiontment will be best utilized if you have the information readily available.
The LAC is located on the 3rd floor of the Thomas F. Eagleton Courthouse, 111 South Tenth Street, St. Louis, Missouri 63102. The public entrance to the courthouse is located on the east side of the building at Level 1. Numerous parking areas are located in the vicinity of the courthouse with varying costs. Public transportation is available in St. Louis through Metro Transit or bus. Visitors must have a valid photo ID to pass through security screening before entering the courthouse. The courthouse is fully accessible to people with disabilities.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to our appointment time to ensure you have enough time to pass through security. You should bring a paper and pen/pencil so that you can take notes or write down important points learned during your appointment.
