Admission to Practice Pro Hac Vice

Applicants for Pro Hac Vice Admission

READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY

The requirements for admission can be found in Rule 12.01 of the Local Rules effective December 1, 2016. In order to avoid delays in the application review process, please refer to the following instructions.

Applicants who have previously been granted access to file in the Eastern District of Missouri can simply log in and file a Motion for Pro Hac Vice in the appropriate case. A Certificate of Good Standing from the state bar of the state of the applicant’s primary residence, issued not more than 60 days prior, will need to be filed as an attachment to the Motion. The Pro Hac fee will be collected at the time of filing the Motion (fees page). Applicants who have not previously been granted access to file in the Eastern District of Missouri will need to apply for efiling access:

  • If you do not already have a PACER Account, register at: https://www.pacer.gov.
  • Request Pro Hac Vice Registration in PACER using the following instructions.
  • After you receive the e-mail stating that your request to e-file is approved, you must file a Motion to Appear Pro Hac Vice by logging into the Court’s CM/ECF system using your PACER username and password. Your Certificate of Good Standing should be filed as an attachment to the Motion.

The entire process can take up to 5 days but typically is much shorter. Please note that incomplete applications are the primary reason for any delay.
